Piccolo Hotel ***

The hotel is situated in a panoramic area at an altitude of 700 metres above sea level, near the wonderful territory of Monte Fumaiolo, where the Tiber, Rome’s sacred river, starts its course

Particularly prized are Alfero’s chestnuts, which are picked throughout the month of October.
The traditional village chestnut festival always takes place on the next to last Sunday in October and on this occasion you can taste typical dishes based on this marvellous fruit. September and October are the best months for picking mushrooms in the surrounding woods, and naturally there is a glut of excellent porcini mushrooms.
Amongst the things to see is the trouts’ waterfall on the Alferello river, the split stone and the Alpino boundary stone where on clear days you can see the towns on the Adriatic coast and Casteldalfero with its eighteenth-century castle which once belonged to Uguccione della Faggiola.
Monte Fumaiolo is just ten minutes away by car and has ski slopes with a good amount of snow and marvellous cross country skiing routes.
